The New Forest England – Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary

An absolute must see place to visit in the New Forest is Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and the Ornamental Drive. A beautiful drive to get here and a trip that is worth a whole day or to come back again and again. A very happy day can easily be spent here for the whole family.

In case you didn’t know the New Forest National park was once the hunting grounds of the former kings of England, and some of the ancient traditions are still practiced today by the commoners.

On arrival at Bolderwood, just as you have parked your car there is an open air green at the side of the woody area which is ideal for a picnic lunch or just to let off some steam with a game of ball. Soaking up the sun before you set off in to the woodlands or having a locally produced ice cream from the resident ice cream van in the car park.

In the woody area at the entrance to Bolderwood you will find picnic tables, portable barbeque facilities and toilets. Here you will also find an information centre, often manned by a friendly forest ranger who can help with questions about the forest. Children and adults can have some fun seeing how many questions they can answer from the quiz!

Once you have entered into the Woodland area at Bolderwood there is a choice of variable well marked walks you can choose from. The shortest is about half a mile long and this walk will take you past the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary. There is a viewing platform here where you can look out across the forest to see how many deer you can spot. The forest feed some deer from here, so if you get the time just right, you can often see a many a deer feeding and grazing.

If you decide to take the Jubilee Walk, this is a about half a mile and will take you through the Bolderwood Arboretum. This is a fabulous display of a range of trees which began as far back as the 1800’s. Unfortunately, because of the high winds we had here in 1987 and further more in 1991, many of the great trees were destroyed. A project of ongoing planting has since been put in place to return this area to its original beauty.

The Radnor Trail is another walk which will take you through this ancient beautiful forest, during this walk you might spot the odd Deer grazing in the distance hiding amongst the many more variety of tree species. There are many suitably placed benches to take a rest for a while and to admire the beauty of the forest surrounding you.

Cycling is a great past time throughout the whole of the forest. Bolderwood is no exception to this and it does in fact form part of the 100 mile New Forest Cycling network. The Bolderwood cycling trail is approximately 7 miles long and can take about 3 and a half hours.

During your visit to Bolderwood you must take the time to drive through Bolderwoods Ornamental Drive. This is at its most beautiful during the summer and its windy narrow road takes you through the tremendous ancient woodland. It forms part of the 100 mile New Forest Cycling network so there are many cyclists along this route and because of its beauty the drive does become quite busy, so please be careful.

If you are looking for friendly local accommodation visit New Forest cottages for local self catering holiday cottages or New Forest hotels for luxury and hotel accommodation.

Family Fun Holiday In England – The New Forest And Moors Valley

Moors Valley Country Park is well worth a visit during your trip to the New Forest. The park is free to get in but you do have to pay to park your car. This is a maximum of £8.00 but is well worth it when you consider that a whole day can easily be spent here. Other attractions in the park also carry a further cost.

Even as you leave your car, you can’t even begin to take in the sheer size of Moors Valley, it really is beautiful. At the bottom of the car park you will find the 18th century barn which incorporates the Visitors Centre. The Centre includes as well as information, a restaurant, a gift shop and lavatories.

Close by to the 18th century visitors centre you will find a large play area for small and bigger children. Its spacious and very safe. Parents can help and watch their children from a safe distance and rest a while, while the children burn off their excess energy.

The station to the steam railway is located just behind the Visitors Centre. The steam train journey begins and ends here. The railway ranks up as one of the best steam railways in the country. The journey lasts for about 20 minutes and passes through some tunnels and tours around the park and lake.

An energetic way to get around Moors Valley if it something that suits you and your family is to hire a bike. Often you wish you had one of those bike carriers on your car – well here at this park you can hire one from the many available in the hire store. There are miles and miles of well mapped cycling paths here and it’s a great way to see the beauty of the park.

A great experience for the over 12’s and fairly fit is the ‘Go Ape’ experience. Go Ape is an experience of truly high wire acts in the tree tops and lasts for about 2 hours. This is great fun, truly energetic, a bit scary and a marvellous experience. Definitely not for the unfit and pre-booking is essential as very popular.

The play trail is marvellous for the children to get around the park having loads of fun on the wooden play features. This is an adventure and a half! Half way round is a tree top (not Go Ape) trail about 5 metres above the ground which all of the family can enjoy and then more wooden play equipment for the remainder of the trail.

After a day out at Moors Valley Country Park you can be sure that the entire family will have lots of fun. You can return to your New Forest holiday accommodation after having a fun filled, energetic, packed day and knowing that all will sleep extremely well that night.

If you fancy a rest the next down the city of Southampton is also only a short drive away and you can find information on the Southampton website

Go Island hopping on your next holiday in the Caribbean!

Exclusive Sale at Sandals Resorts
That was it, now it is time for me to get that luxury holiday i wanted. I have been working as a Barrister for many years and was getting to the point in life where I wanted to try something new. So starting off this new journey, what better idea is there than heading off to the Caribbean?

So I booked a two week holiday that would take me to three islands. The first was the Bahamas, a fantastic place of sun, sea and sand. This was going to be the island were i would just have a but of a relax, the only problem is that this island had a great event in store for me. The dolphins were amazing, I went swimming with them and they almost seemed to be very patient with me. These divine and majestic marine animals are both smart and friendly. If you are thinking about this kind of holiday, then you must go swimming with dolphins. The Bahamas was great, so far Caribbean holidays, well worth it.

So next I was taken to St Lucia. This was a pretty island, it’s beauty enthralled me, i even spotted myself a celebrity in the form of Amy Winehouse. I couldn’t believe it, this island wasn’t just about the sand and the blue seas, there was basically a rain forest that covered the whole island. We went out on a Caribbean safari, the stories they told were amazing. I had heard a lot about St Lucia holidays, but seeing it first hand was brilliant.

Next up was a real treat, Barbados. I had been looking forward to this last part of my holiday, I have always wanted to go on Barbados holidays, but it has not been completely available to me. This was the night life island, going out in the evenings was great fun and I had the most wonderful time, I would recommend these holidays to anyone that asks.

Know Airline Security Basics Before You Depart

air trip

In recent years, as well as recent months, air trips rules have changed.  If you are planning on flying, you will find that most of these changes have occurred right at airports, namely airport security checkpoints.  If you are about to head off to catch a flight, whether you leave tomorrow or in two weeks, it is advised that you famialrize yourself with these new air travel rules, namely the ones that are enforced at airport security checkpoints.

When it comes to airport security checkpoints, there are many passengers who only think of one checkpoint, but the reality is that there are actually three. When registering for seating on the plane will be your first checkpoint. This is the time when you will be presented with your boarding passes and when you must hand over the luggage that you would like checked.  In addition to handing over your plane tickets or requesting your boarding passes, you will need to show the proper forms of identification. These items most commonly include a driver’s license or a government issued identification card.

Once you have received all of your boarding passes, for all of your flights, you will need to hand over your luggage that you will be leaving below in the plane. These bags are commonly referred to as checked baggage or checked luggage.  As with your carryon luggage, your checked baggage will need to be checked for prohibited items. In the past, only a small number of bags were hand checked, but now almost all are.  Many of these checks are quick look-overs, but you may be subject to a random, extensive search. The searches includes looking at all the baggage compartments.

When you have been cleared to the next stage, you will need to go through the main airport security checkpoints. This point is where you will be required to have your carryon luggage scanned by an x-ray machine. You will also need to walk through a metal detector. In the past, only random travelers were asked to remove their shoes for checking. At this time, all travelers are required to remove their shoes, expect those with underlying medical conditions. Your carry-on luggage will be x-rayed along with your shoes.

By familiarizing yourself with the items that are banned aboard an airplane, including items that are only prohibited from being stored in your carryon luggage, an unnecessary incident could be prevented. In the event that you are found carrying a prohibited item, certain steps will be taken. Depending on the item in question, you may be required to return the item to you car, discard of it, mail it to your home, or turn it over to airport security.  Ensuring that you leave all prohibited items at home is the best way to prevent this unnecessary tie up, which may cause you to miss your flight.

Once you have been cleared at the main security checkpoint, you will need to go through one more security checkpoint. This is the final step before being able to board your airplane.  When entering the airport terminal, after your airline as granted permission for passengers to board, you will need to present airline officials with the appropriate boarding pass.  As this time you may need to show your identification again; however, it isn’t always necessary. If you are acting noticeably nervous then you may be pulled aside for further questioning before boarding the aircraft. That is why it is best that you stay calm during all airport checkpoints, including the final boarding stage.

Perhaps, the best way to ensure that your next flight is as pleasant as it can be is to follow all travel requirement rules.  Knowing these rules ahead of time, including the screening process, you should ensure that you are able to board your plane and make it to your intended destination without incident.

Enjoy Beijing’s Cherry Blossoms Galore!

EconomyTravel.com

Asia Adventure Travel. Great Value Trips All Over Asia. Low Impact Tours with Expert Guides.

Spring always offers nature lovers an ideal time to enjoy warm weather and beautiful flowers. In Beijing, not far the 4 star Beijing Guohong Hotel, tens of thousands crowd Yuyuantan Park for a grand flower-appreciating event.

Each April, the Yuyuantan Cherry Blossom Festival is held as the lovely plants start to bloom in this Beijing park. And if you come for a few snaps of the spectacular views of cherry blossoms, don’t be surprised if a great number of Beijing’s 16 million residents have the same idea.

Japan gave the nearly 20 varieties of cherry trees to China as a gift upon establishing relations between the two countries in 1973. Throughout the years, the blossoms have come to symbolize the natural beauty of China’s capital city.

The delicate white and pale pink blossoms mark the arrival of spring in Beijing. When the festival gets started, thousands of families would walk along the bank of the lake, where most the cherry trees are planted, to savor the spectacular scenes of the beautiful cherry blossoms.

Given frame after frame of picturesque settings, some visitors even bring their kites, guitars, or set up a picnic to enjoy the best the park can possibly offer. And there is no surprise that so many newlyweds come to this park for their wedding photos that they will cherish for a lifetime. Many couples stay at the beautiful Beijing Hwa Apartment Hotel when they come to Beijing to take these pictures.

In a word, the flowers are in plenty, and so are the visitors. So a wise strategy is: take full advantage of your chance to get some great shots before the crowds retake the place.

But exactly when the cherry buds will open is not an easy question to answer. The flower is quite sensitive to the change of temperature, and in many places, the bloom lasts no more than a week.

In Beijing’s Yuyuantan Park, however, you can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms from late May right through April. That’s well over a month! About 3, 000 cherry trees come into bloom at slightly different times, allowing visitors to enjoy longer the galore and beauty that can only be enjoyed once in a year.

Some highlights of the festival include planting trees, which allows you to make a contribution to a greener and more beautiful Beijing. And the chance to adopt one of the cherry trees that will help establish a special bond between you and this beautiful flower. A host of other activities, such as the interesting shuttle cock contest, are also held.

From the park, you can also get a great view of the China Central TV Tower, the tallest structure in Beijing. There are also a number of great hotels in Beijing, China!

Walking And Hiking In The New Forest

The National Park offers something for everyone. Whether you want to see it from its miles and miles of trails on cycling trips and New Forest Walks, boat rides along the coastline, or perhaps just to visit some of the many museums and historic sites located within The national park boundaries, no visitor will be disappointed. The only let down is that one has to go home sooner or later!

You can view the forest in many ways, there are guided walks, bicycle tours or if it might be a personal favourite on horseback. This way you can see the best of the beauty to be found within the Forest. Driving through the forest might be a lovely way to view the fabulous scenery certainly they are missing and not capturing the best of the natural beauty within the park.

Expert guides can inform you about the natural marvels of the park, with walking tours given by wildlife experts, geologists and more throughout the year. No matter when you plan to take a holiday, there is always something to see, as events seem to happen somewhere in the park every single day of the year!

Throughout many of the guided tours and walks – the experienced ranger or tour guide will offer some history about the places you are visiting. Bucklers Hard for example was where Admiral Nelson’s fleet was built. The forest as you can imagine has a lot of history about it including formerly being the hunting ground of kings.

You will find the Visitors Centre will have an abundance of information for visitors to the New Forest. Because the Forest includes many miles of coastline and rivers on the south coast there are considerable aquatic attractions to be found in this marvellous park as well. Perhaps not surprisingly you can partake in water sports such as kayaking, wind surfing and sailing here or if not too keen in being too close to the water, there are many beautiful guided boat tours available.

The New Forests status of wildlife preserve means that within just a short distance into the forest will mean that you will see considerable animals and wildlife within their own habitat. You really don’t even have to look that hard. Wildlife lovers could make a considerable list by the end of one day for all the species they are likely to come across.

Amongst all the wildlife you will find deer in abundance hiding out in the depth of the trees. You might come across a herd of cows blocking your path in the road with all the time in the day and not bothering to let you pass. Horses and pony’s wandering aimlessly across the village green. This is life in the New Forest and just a tiny part of the beauty that this park has to offer.

Exbury Gardens in the New Forest although not a forest walk is a beautiful place to visit. The Gardens are situated in 200 acres and there are many miles of wonderful walkways. This is well worth a visit if you can fit it in during your trip.

If your planning a trip to the New Forest National Park and plan to stay over night there is a good variety of New Forest bed and breakfast accommodation in the region where you can stay which can be found on the New Forest guides website.

Also while you are in the area make sure you visit the nearby city of Southampton which is renowned for its shopping experience and museums.
